Pair the iPad

Scan the QR code from the Dashboard to link this iPad to a branch

Overview

Pairing is a one-time flow that binds an iPad to a single branch. The Dashboard generates a QR code, the iPad's Klu app scans it, and the two are linked until the device is explicitly unpaired. After pairing, the iPad lands on the PIN screen and is ready for cashiers.

When to use it

  • Setting up a brand-new iPad for the first time
  • Replacing an iPad that broke or is being retired
  • Adding a second register at an existing branch

How to use it

  1. In the Dashboard, open Cash Drawers โ†’ Devices and click Link Device.
  2. A QR code modal appears in the Dashboard with the pairing code.
  3. On the iPad, open the Klu app โ€” the welcome screen reads This device is not linked to a branch.
  4. Tap Scan QR and point the camera at the Dashboard's QR code. Grant camera permission if prompted.
  5. The iPad shows a loading state and then lands on the PIN entry screen โ€” pairing is complete.
  6. Back in the Dashboard, confirm the device name and save โ€” the new device card appears on the Devices tab.

Tips & gotchas

  • QR codes expire after a few minutes โ€” if the scan fails, close the modal in the Dashboard and click Link Device again to regenerate.
  • Alternative: from the iPad itself, tap dashboard.klupos.com/cash-drawers on the welcome screen and click Link Device โ€” the Dashboard can deep-link the token back into the Klu app without a QR scan.
  • The first time you open the camera, iOS asks for permission. If you deny by mistake, grant it later from iPad Settings โ†’ Klu โ†’ Camera.
