Link a device

Pair an iPad POS to this branch via QR code.

Overview

Linking a device is a one-time pairing flow: the Dashboard generates a QR code, the iPad Klu app scans it, and the two are bound. Once linked, the device appears as a card on the Devices tab with its live cash-in-drawer balance and shift status.

When to use it

  • Setting up a brand new iPad for the first time
  • Replacing an iPad (disconnect the old one, link the new one)
  • Adding a second register at a branch

How to use it

  1. Open Cash Drawers -> Devices.
  2. Click Link Device in the header.
  3. The Dashboard shows a QR code modal with the pairing code.
  4. Open the Klu iPad app on the device to be paired, and choose Scan pairing QR.
  5. Scan the QR — the iPad shows Connected.
  6. Back in the Dashboard, confirm the device name and save — the new device card appears on the Devices tab.

Tips & gotchas

  • QR codes expire after a few minutes — if the iPad says expired, close the modal and click Link Device again to regenerate.
  • Device name must be unique per branch.
  • The cash-in-drawer balance starts at 0 — the first shift sets the opening balance.
