Printer setup
Discover a Star / BLE printer, pair it, set paper size, and test print.
Overview
Klu supports Star IO10 thermal receipt printers and BLE-based ESC/POS alternatives. Pairing happens from the iPad itself, in Device settings โ Printer. The paired printer persists across sessions and is used for receipts, Z-reports, and (if compatible) product labels. Only one printer is active at a time.
When to use it
- First-time setup of a new iPad or a new printer
- Replacing a broken or retired printer
- Moving a printer between iPads
- Troubleshooting failed prints (wrong paper size, no printer selected)

- The Printer tab is selected by default. If not, tap Printer at the top.
- Tap the refresh icon on the right โ Klu discovers nearby Star and BLE printers.
- Tap your printer in the Printers list โ a green border and checkmark confirm it's selected.
- Under Printer Settings, pick a Paper Size โ
80mm(default) or58mm. - On the right, tap Print to send a test receipt. A sample sale prints out.
- Tap back to return to the login screen โ the printer is now the active one for all receipts.
Tips & gotchas
- The Star IO10 also opens the cash drawer via a print-code, so a correctly paired printer is required for the Open Drawer action to work.
- BLE printers must first be paired in iOS Settings โ Bluetooth (for the PIN), then discovered here in Klu.
- If the list shows No Printers Found, check that the printer is on, Bluetooth is enabled on the iPad, and (for LAN Star printers) that the iPad and printer are on the same Wi-Fi subnet.
- Switching printers is a one-tap action โ selecting a new one automatically deselects the old one. The red X on the selected card disconnects it entirely.
- The paper size setting is device-wide โ changing it here affects every receipt and label printed from this iPad.
