Free product promotion (BOGO)
Pick the free item when a mix-and-match or BOGO promotion triggers
Overview
When the cart qualifies for a free-product promotion configured in the Dashboard, the iPad shows a purple promo badge on the cart line. For cross-product BOGOs (buy X, get a different Y free) the cashier is prompted to pick which free item the customer wants from an eligible list.
When to use it
- A BOGO or cross-BOGO promotion is live for the product just added
- Mix-and-match threshold has been reached
- Customer is claiming the free product at the till

- Add products as usual โ when a promotion trigger is met, a purple badge appears on the qualifying line with the promotion name.
- If the promotion is a CROSS_BOGO (pick from a different category): a. Tap the green cart total button to open the order review screen. b. On the qualifying line, tap Select Products inside the promotion badge. c. A picker opens listing all eligible free products with their live stock. d. For each product you want to include, tap Select Quantity, type the amount, and the product is added to the selected list above. e. Tap Confirm when the selected quantity matches the promotion's free quantity.
- For straight BOGO (same product), the free units show automatically under the line with a slashed price and
0.00. - The free line prints on the receipt with a promo badge at
0.00.
Tips & gotchas
- You can't confirm the free-product picker until the selected quantity exactly matches the promotion's required free quantity โ the app blocks you with a "Missing Free Products" alert otherwise.
- Removing the qualifying line (or dropping its quantity below the threshold) invalidates the promotion โ the free line disappears and you'll need to re-trigger it.
- Stock shown in the picker is live โ you can't pick more than the available stock.
- Tap the
xinside the promo badge to manually remove the promotion from a line โ Klu recomputes the price at the regular rate. - Promotions are configured in the Dashboard โ see Promotions overview.
