Record waste or move stock

Adjust stock quantity for a product with a reason, or move stock between rooms.

Overview

Stock adjustments on the iPad handle two cases: discarding units (Add Waste) and shifting units between rooms (Move Stock). Both ask for a quantity and an optional reason, and update stock immediately on the Dashboard and on every other paired device.

When to use it

  • Discovered a damaged or expired unit that needs to come off the floor
  • Moving stock from back-of-house storage to a sales room
  • Correcting a miscount spotted during a shift before it hits a sale

How to use it

  1. Open Stock from the drawer menu.
  2. Search or filter to find the product.
  3. Tap the product row — the stock modal opens with two actions.
  4. Pick Add Waste (remove units) or Move Stock (shift units to another room).
  5. For Move Stock, select the target room from the dropdown.
  6. Enter the quantity on the keypad and tap Next.
  7. Enter an optional reason (recommended — it shows up in the audit log).
  8. Tap Add Waste or Move Stock to save — stock updates immediately.

Tips & gotchas

  • Waste is irreversible on the iPad — if you made a mistake, have an admin correct it from the Dashboard inventory logs.
  • Moving to a room where the product has zero stock creates a new room-product record automatically.
  • Batch-adjusting many items at once is faster in the Dashboard stock tab.
  • The reason field is optional but strongly recommended — it's the only context future you (or the owner) will have when reviewing logs later.
