Create the order without payment โ settle from the Pending Bills screen later
Overview
Pay Later is the yellow button on the right of the Complete Order screen, sitting between Order Paid and Cancel Order. Tapping it saves the current sale to the Pending Bills queue without marking it paid and returns you to the Home screen. The bill can be pulled up from Pending Bills later and settled with any payment method โ at that point the normal Complete Order flow runs.
Use this for staff running a tab, customers stepping away to get cash, or any order that can't settle right now.
When to use it
- A customer is running a tab and will settle at the end of the meal or day
- The customer stepped away to get cash, put the bill on Pay Later to free the register
- Staff meals or comps that get reconciled at close of shift
- Any sale created by mistake that you want to keep (use Cancel Order if you want to discard)
How to use it

- On the Complete Order screen, do not pick a payment method โ just tap the yellow Pay Later button on the right column.
- The iPad returns to Home and clears the cart. The bill is now in Pending Bills.
- To settle later: open the Pending Bills tab from the drawer menu, tap the saved bill โ you land back on Complete Order with the same cart and total.
- Pick a payment method (Cash, Card, PromptPay, etc.) and tap Order Paid as usual.
Tips & gotchas
- Pay Later does not require a payment method to be selected โ it's the one button on this screen that doesn't depend on the grid.
- A pending bill still reserves stock โ the items were deducted when the sale was created. If you cancel the pending bill instead of settling, stock is returned.
- Loyalty points are earned on settlement, not when the bill is saved โ the customer's points only bump up once Order Paid runs.
- Pay Later bills show in the Dashboard with a PENDING status โ staff can see how many open tabs a branch has at a glance.
- If you want to throw away an unsaved cart instead of keeping it, use Cancel Order (red button) โ that deletes the sale and does not go to Pending Bills.
