Cancel or hold a sale
Park a tab to come back to it, or cancel it entirely before payment
Overview
Tabs can be parked indefinitely — just switch to another tab or clear the current one. Cancelling is different: on the payment screen, Cancel Order marks the sale as CANCELLED permanently. Once a sale has been paid, it can't be cancelled from here — revert it from the Bills screen instead.
When to use it
- Customer changed their mind mid-order — park for now
- Customer walked away before paying — cancel the tab or the pending sale
- Staff error — clear the cart and restart
- End-of-shift cleanup of abandoned tabs
How to use it
Video tutorial coming soon
- Hold (park) a tab:
- In the Home header, tap the x on the active tab box to clear selection — the tab stays in the tab list.
- Or switch to a different tab via the tab selector — the previous tab is parked automatically.
- Delete an unused tab:
- Open the tab selector and pick Select a Table.
- On the tab card you want to remove, tap the delete icon — confirm Delete Tab in the alert.
- Cancel a sale already sent to payment:
- On the Complete Order (payment) screen, tap the red Cancel Order button.
- The sale is marked CANCELLED and the iPad returns to the Home screen.
Tips & gotchas
- Parking (switching tabs) is non-destructive — the cart stays exactly as it was.
- Delete Tab from the tab list removes the tab and its cart completely — there's a confirm step, but no undo after.
- Cancel Order on the payment screen is permanent — if you need to reopen the sale later, use Pay Later instead, which keeps it as a pending bill.
- Paid sales cannot be cancelled from the payment screen — go to the Bills screen and use Revert Sale, which requires a reason.
- Holding too many tabs clutters the Select a Table page — clear them out at the end of each shift.
