Bundle related categories together for reporting and organization.

Overview

Category groups are a second layer of taxonomy on top of categories. A group like "Cannabis" can contain "Flower", "Edibles", and "Concentrates" โ€” rolling everything up under one label for reporting. Groups are optional; a category without a group still works fine.

When to use it

  • Organizing a large catalog into high-level families
  • Rolling up sales analytics by group (Cannabis vs Accessories vs Food)
  • Filtering the Sales -> Categories view by group

How to use it

Video tutorial coming soon
  1. Open Categories. The Category Groups grid sits at the top.
  2. Click the Create Category Group card.
  3. Fill the form:
    • Name (required) โ€” the group name.
    • Categories โ€” multi-select of categories to attach to this group.
  4. Save. The group appears as a new card in the grid.
  5. To edit a group, click its card's action menu and pick Edit. To delete, pick Delete โ€” categories get unlinked but stay in the system.

Tips & gotchas

  • Some groups are system groups (e.g., "Cannabis Flowers") โ€” the name is locked and you can't delete them. System groups drive special analytics tabs.
  • A category can only belong to one group at a time โ€” assigning it elsewhere unlinks from the previous group.
  • The groups grid uses a Show More / Show Less toggle when you have more groups than fit on one row.
  • Deleting a group is non-destructive โ€” it just clears the groupId on every attached category.
