Klu Docs

Cash payment

Enter the amount received and let Klu calculate change automatically

Overview

Cash is the most common method at the register. After picking Cash on the payment grid, a keypad appears with two tiles above it: You Received (what the customer handed over) and You Owe (the change you owe back). Klu updates both live as you type. Confirming with Order Paid pops the cash drawer and routes to the receipt printer.

When to use it

  • Any cash sale
  • Exact change or change-due sales โ€” the keypad handles both

How to use it

Video tutorial coming soon
  1. On the Complete Order screen, tap the Cash tile โ€” it highlights green.
  2. The You Received and You Owe tiles appear above the keypad.
  3. Type the amount received on the keypad โ€” You Received updates as you type, and You Owe shows the change if the amount exceeds the total.
  4. Tap Order Paid on the right โ€” the cash drawer pops, the sale finalizes, and the iPad routes to Print Receipt.

Tips & gotchas

  • Order Paid stays enabled even if the amount received is below the total โ€” the cashier is trusted to enter the right number; Klu won't block an under-entry. Double-check You Owe before tapping.
  • The cash drawer only opens if a Star printer is connected and paired โ€” if the drawer didn't open, check the printer connection from the Cash Drawer screen.
  • The change shown in You Owe follows the organization's rounding rules from the order review โ€” the number here is already the rounded total, not the pre-rounding figure.
  • If you skip the keypad entirely and tap Order Paid, the sale still goes through as cash โ€” useful for exact-change transactions.
