Card and bank transfer
Accept a card payment or an external bank transfer and mark the sale as paid
Overview
Card and bank transfer both happen outside of Klu โ on an external card terminal or via the customer's banking app. The iPad shows a small "wait for payment" prompt while the cashier processes the transaction on the terminal or confirms the transfer receipt. Once the external system approves, the cashier taps Order Paid to mark the Klu sale as settled.
The payment grid offers three card tiles โ generic Card, Visa, and Mastercard โ plus Transfer for bank transfers. Pick whichever matches the actual payment for the sales report.
When to use it
- All Visa and Mastercard sales (use the branded tile for cleaner reporting)
- Generic Card for UnionPay, JCB, Amex, or any terminal that doesn't differentiate
- Transfer when the customer sends money via their banking app to the shop's account
How to use it
Video tutorial coming soon
- On the Complete Order screen, tap Visa, Mastercard, Card, or Transfer โ the tile highlights green.
- The middle panel shows a prompt: "Wait for the card transaction to complete before marking the order as paid" (or "Wait for transfer to be completed by the customer" for Transfer).
- Run the payment on the external card terminal or wait for the customer's transfer to land in the shop account.
- Once approved or received, tap Order Paid on the right โ Klu finalizes the sale and routes to Print Receipt.
Tips & gotchas
- There is no integrated card terminal โ card approvals happen on the merchant's separate device. Klu only records which method was used; it doesn't talk to the card network.
- Never tap Order Paid before the external terminal approves or the bank transfer shows in the account. Reversing a Klu sale is clunky and you lose the stock deduction history.
- The Visa and Mastercard tiles and the generic Card tile all report as separate payment methods in the Dashboard sales report โ pick consistently for useful breakdowns.
- For bank transfer, the shop's bank account number is not shown on the iPad โ share it verbally or keep a QR code at the register (see the PromptPay page for that flow).
