Cash drawer overview
Opening and closing shifts, cash movements, and drawer reconciliation on the iPad.
Overview
The Cash Drawer screen is the cashier's side of the drawer lifecycle. One shift at a time per device, and every cash movement โ sale payments, refunds, manual cash in / out โ is logged against the open shift. The matching audit view for managers lives in the Dashboard.
When to use it
- Starting the day and setting the opening float
- Topping up change mid-shift or paying out petty cash
- Closing out at end of day and reconciling the drawer
- Checking the current drawer balance at a glance
How to use it
Video tutorial coming soon
- From the side menu, tap Cash Drawer.
- The Cash Summary panel shows Starting Cash, Sales Cash, Cash In, Cash Out, and the running Current Cash.
- The Drawer Actions panel has the buttons for the shift: Start Shift / End Shift, Cash In, Cash Out, and Open Drawer (physical).
- The Total Cash (all drawers) widget in the corner sums current cash across every device in the branch.
Tips & gotchas
- Only one shift can be open per device at a time โ the sale screen is blocked until you start one.
- Total Cash (all drawers) is the branch-wide float across every paired iPad โ handy for a manager walking between registers.
- Tapping Open Drawer outside of a sale is logged as an event so managers can see it in the Dashboard.
