Remove staff

Deactivate a staff record so they can no longer log into the branch.

Overview

Removing a staff member deactivates their record at this branch. They can no longer log into the iPad POS here. History (past sales, shifts, logs) is preserved.

When to use it

  • An employee left the company
  • Someone moved to another branch and doesn't work at this one anymore
  • Temporarily disabling access during a disciplinary review

How to use it

  1. Open Staff.
  2. Find the row and open the row action menu.
  3. Choose Delete or Deactivate — both routes deactivate the record.
  4. Confirm — the staff is marked inactive and the list refreshes.

Tips & gotchas

  • The staff member cannot log in after removal; on the iPad, their PIN is rejected.
  • The record is not physically deleted — past sales, shifts, and logs still reference it. Reports for prior periods continue to show their contribution.
  • A staff who is currently logged in at another device must be signed out before deactivation (the action blocks if they're active).
  • Reinstating is done by creating a new staff record — deactivation is one-way.
  • OWNER role is required for deletion; MANAGER can deactivate.
