Overview
Variations let you sell several related SKUs as children of one parent โ think "T-shirt" as parent with "Small / Medium / Large" as variations, or a drink with different flavors. Each variation has its own price, image, and stock, but shares the parent's category and family identity.
When to use it
- Products that come in multiple sizes, colors, or flavors
- Keeping the catalog grouped (one parent tile on the iPad, expanding to variations)
- Tracking stock per variant without polluting the catalog with standalone products
How to use it
Video tutorial coming soon
- Open Products and find the parent product.
- Open the row action menu and click Create Variation.
- Fill the variation form:
- Name โ appended to the parent name (e.g., "Small").
- Price โ can differ from the parent's price.
- Image โ optional override; falls back to the parent's image if empty.
- Click Save. The variation appears nested under the parent in the list.
Tips & gotchas
- Variations inherit the parent's category โ you can't reassign one to a different category.
- Each variation gets its own SKU, stock, and price strategy eligibility.
- On the iPad, tapping the parent tile fans out the variation picker.
- To delete a variation, open its row action menu and click Delete โ deleting the parent removes all its variations.
